I served as the Town of Duck’s Public Relations and Events Coordinator for the first seven years that I lived here in Dare County. I was honored and humbled to be the first person to hold that position, and to be trusted to create and implement so much of what are now Duck’s special events and communications programs.
In my role, I was also part of the original team that worked on creating and implementing Dare County’s Joint Information Committee which activates during emergencies. I have taken National Incident Management Training and am fully experienced in dealing with emergency situations at all levels.
Duck is representative of the small town feel and sense of community we see across our beautiful county. The article from the 2012 Fall Coast posted following tells a little bit more about me. I will be honored to serve as your next Dare County Commissioner.
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking.
Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” – Steve Jobs’ 2005 Stanford Commencement Address.
We have to do things differently, if we want things to change.
